Eileen Mac Donagh's Tallaght Cross sculpture, installed in Library Square, is constructed of four 10 rectangular stainless steel trunks that tilt and lean against each other and turn at an angle about three quarters of the way up, forming a abstract X shape. Their geometric shape and scale echo the forms of the buildings that surround the sculpture. The square is bordered by County Library and a number of large retail and residential blocks, constructed as part of the major development of Tallaght from early 2000. The top half is striped; where parallel lines of are polished to a mirror like surface that partially reflect square around.
